Entry Requirements

– For Boarding (Years 7–11)

  • Eligibility: Applicants must hold a British Passport or have the Right of Abode in the UK.
  • Academic: Academically non-selective. However, a reference from the current school is required.
  • Suitability for Boarding: This is the most critical requirement. Every boarding applicant must undergo an interview to assess:
    • Their desire to board and ability to cope with communal life.
    • Their self-reliance and independence.
    • Whether they present any health and safety risk to the boarding community.

– For Sixth Form (Year 12)

  • General Minimum: Five GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including Grade 4 in English and Mathematics.
  • Subject Specifics: Many A-Level subjects (especially Science and Maths) require a Grade 6 or 7 at GCSE in that specific subject.

– For Day Pupils

  • Admission is handled via the Somerset Council local authority process. Selection is based on oversubscription criteria (Catchment area, siblings, etc.) rather than academic testing.

Key Dates for Admissions

  • Year 7 (Day & Boarding): Submit applications by 31 October 2026.
  • Boarding Interviews: Conducted between November 2026 and January 2027.
  • Sixth Form: Submit applications by February 2027.
  • Offer Days: 1 March 2027 (Year 7) and March/April 2027 (Sixth Form).
