What to expect during the event…

You’ll be welcomed by our Head of Prep, Joe Layburn, who will introduce Bancroft’s Prep and explain what joining us at 7+ looks like.

After the talk, there will be time to explore the school, meet staff, and see the spaces where children learn, create and play.

Entry Requirements

7+ (Year 3) English, Maths, Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR), and Listening. Looking for academic potential; target scores are typically 70%+ on practice materials.

11+ (Year 7) Online CEM Select test (Reasoning), plus short written English and Maths papers. Selective; successful applicants usually score in the top 15-20% nationally.

16+ (Year 12) Online aptitude test + two written exams in subjects intended for A-Level. Minimum of five Grade 8/9s at GCSE; Grade 8 in A-Level subjects; Grade 9 for Further Maths.

Key Dates for Admissions

Registration Deadline: Early December 2026.

Entrance Exam: Tuesday, January 5, 2027.

Interviews: Saturday, January 23, 2027 (for those who perform well in exams).

Offers Sent: February 2027.

Acceptance Deadline: Early March 2027.

16+ (Sixth Form) Entry – For September 2027

Registration Opens: Easter 2026.

Registration Deadline: Mid-October 2026.

Entrance Assessments: Friday, October 30, 2026.

Music Award Auditions: November 2026.

Offers (Conditional): Late November 2026.

7+ (Year 3) Entry – For September 2027

Registration Deadline: Early December 2026.

Entrance Exam: January 2027 (usually held over two separate visits to the Prep School).

Offers Sent: February 2027.

Results

A Level 2025: 40% – A*, 93% – A*-B, 75% – A*-A

GCSE 2025: 88% – Grades 9-7, 71% – Grades 9-8, 44% – Grades 9

This year’s leavers are pursuing a wide range of paths, with many securing places at prestigious universities, including the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Imperial College London, and the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE).

75% of our leavers will be going on to study at Russell Group universities, and 8 students will be studying medicine.
