Depending on a pupil’s personal profile, Hazelwood offers layered provisions consisting of inclusive in-class support, tailored small-group boosters—such as the innovative early morning “Wild Readers’ Club” for reluctant readers—and focused 1:1 sessions. By leveraging rigorous internal screening processes and maintaining strong communication links with parents and external clinicians, the department successfully eliminates learning barriers, building the academic independence and resilience required for pupils to flourish ahead of their 13+ senior school transitions.
Proudly non-selective. Early Years and Reception entry is based on gentle, observation-based play assurances. Entry for Year 1 to Year 8 requires formal registration (£120 non-refundable fee), an on-site classroom Taster Day, a formal progress report from the child’s current school, and localized baseline assessment checks (Year 3 upward) to ensure the candidate can access the full breadth of the curriculum.
Employs a rolling admissions process based on space availability. Main whole-school open mornings are held throughout the year, including a major Autumn Open Morning scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026. Formal registration is highly recommended 12 months in advance for peak entry intakes.
Widely praised by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) and highly rated by Muddy Stilettos and Schoolsmith for forward-thinking classroom environments and pastoral excellence. Frequently recognised for outstanding innovation in incorporating creative tech into pre-secondary education.
