At Cheam School, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision is structured through a dedicated Learning Development Centre (LDC) that works alongside the school’s pastoral “Wellbeing Nest.” Operating a highly collaborative framework, a specialised team of teachers uses early baseline profiling to identify and support a wide range of mild-to-moderate learning differences, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, organisational or executive function issues, and milder speech and language needs. Following diagnosis, the school implements tailored Individual Intervention Plans (IIPs) that outline specific access arrangements (such as touch-typing, extra time, or assistive technology) and blend high-quality classroom differentiation with targeted one-on-one or small-group weekly lessons.
