We warmly invite you to Cheam School for an upcoming Open Morning. Join us to experience what makes Cheam such a distinctive and inspiring place for children to spend their formative years. During your visit, you’ll explore our beautiful 100-acre campus, gain a genuine insight into daily life here, and most importantly, meet the pupils and teachers who make our community so special.
At Cheam School, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision is structured through a dedicated Learning Development Centre (LDC) that works alongside the school’s pastoral “Wellbeing Nest.” Operating a highly collaborative framework, a specialised team of teachers uses early baseline profiling to identify and support a wide range of mild-to-moderate learning differences, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, organisational or executive function issues, and milder speech and language needs. Following diagnosis, the school implements tailored Individual Intervention Plans (IIPs) that outline specific access arrangements (such as touch-typing, extra time, or assistive technology) and blend high-quality classroom differentiation with targeted one-on-one or small-group weekly lessons.
Entry into Nursery and Pre-Prep relies on a friendly, informal taster morning and developmental check. Prep entry (Year 3+) requires a formal taster day, internal assessments in English and Mathematics, a verbal reasoning test, and an official reference from the candidate’s current school headteacher.
Employs a rolling admissions framework based on rolling waitlists. For standard September entry, formal registrations and assessments are ideally actioned during the preceding Autumn or early Spring terms.
Highly praised by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) for academic excellence and pastoral care. It is the only preparatory school to be awarded the prestigious ACE School of Character quality mark for explicit character education. Around 30% of Year 8 leavers secure prestigious scholarship awards annually across Academic, Sport, Music, Drama, and DT disciplines.
An elite school to the UK’s top independent senior boarding schools. Most prominent destinations include Marlborough College, Radley College, Bradfield College, Eton College, Wellington College, Winchester College, Downe House, and St Edward’s Oxford.
