Clifton College is deeply committed to creating an inclusive environment where all learners feel valued and empowered.
The College’s commitment to inclusion is further evidenced by its proactive management of Exam Access Arrangements and its collaborative model, where SEND coordinators work in tandem with House leadership and academic staff to provide a seamless pastoral-academic support network. While the school remains academically selective, it is adept at implementing reasonable adjustments during the admissions process and throughout a pupil’s tenure. By fostering an environment of intellectual risk-taking and self-advocacy, Clifton College ensures that neurodiverse students are not only supported in their specific learning requirements but are also empowered to achieve elite university placements and realize their full potential within a diverse and global community.
Selective entry via Common Entrance, bespoke entrance exams, school reports, and interviews. International students typically sit UKiset or school-specific papers.
In 2025, 17% of A Level grades were A*, 44% A*-A, 75% A*-B, and 90% A*-C. 21% of GCSE grades were 9s and 58% were 9-7 with 35 different subjects/qualifications offered.
The vast majority of Cliftonians choose to study at university, either in the UK or overseas, with a small number taking up degree apprenticeships or full-time employment. In 2025, of the nearly 150 places accepted at UK universities, more than two thirds were at Russell Group universities, with the five most popular universities being Exeter, Durham, Manchester, UCL and Cardiff. Five students won places at Oxbridge. The diversity of university subjects chosen by leavers continues to grow, with 94 different courses selected amongst the 2025 leavers.
Interest in applying to study abroad also continues to grow, with students gaining places at leading overseas universities, including UC Berkeley, NYU and Bocconi. About 30% of students take a gap year in a cohort of roughly 170 leavers.
Excellent results by themselves are not the only signifier of a well-rounded education. We place equal importance on personal growth and independence. At every step of their education, pupils are encouraged to question theories and conventional approaches, and to learn to think critically and independently. We want all pupils to embrace life after Clifton College as the best version of themselves that they can be.
