Enjoy a guided tour of the school led by our current pupils, giving you an authentic glimpse into daily life here. While you explore, your child will be entertained with a range of thoughtfully planned activities, designed to give them a taste of the fun and energy that defines Cothill.
The morning also includes an opportunity to meet George May, our Head, along with members of our dedicated staff and senior leadership team. It’s a relaxed and welcoming chance to ask questions, learn more about our approach, and get a real feel for the environment your child could soon be part of.

At Cothill (Cothill House), which was recently recognized as a runner-up for “Great for SEND” in The Week magazine’s awards, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities support is focused on normalising neurodiversity within a mainstream boarding environment. Operating a structured “Assess, Plan, Do, Review” framework under the guidance of the school’s SENCo, the Learning Support department uses initial baseline screening to target specific learning difficulties (such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and ADHD) and milder autistic spectrum conditions. While high-quality classroom differentiation forms the foundational layer, the school provides tailored, individual, or small-group interventions for skills like touch-typing, reading, and handwriting.
Generous but structured “broad entry, tight exit” policy. Admissions are focused on character and fit rather than high-stakes digital testing. Involves a 1:1 visit, an informal talk with the Headmaster, basic academic baseline checks (English and Maths), and a confidential report from their current school.
Employs a rolling admissions process year-round depending on space availability, though main assessments for peak autumn entry groups are focused in the preceding winter/early spring terms.
Consistently rated “Excellent” by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) for both academic outcomes and quality of boarding care. Routinely delivers a high volume of senior school scholarships across academic, music, art, and sport pathways.
UK’s most prestigious senior boarding institutions. Top destinations include Radley College, Eton College, Harrow School, Winchester College, Marlborough College, Oundle School, Stowe School, Sherborne, and St Edward’s Oxford.
