Entry Requirements

Selective. Entrance is based on age-appropriate formal assessments checking core literacy, mathematics, and non-verbal/cognitive reasoning skills. This is paired with an informal taster day experience and a mandatory satisfactory reference report from the candidate’s current primary school or pre-prep.

Key Dates for Admissions

Main intake entry occurs at 7+ (Year 3). Formal entry assessments are typically hosted in January of the preceding entry year. Because the school operates a strict waiting list system due to high demand, early registration (ideally before late autumn) is strongly recommended.

Results

Consistently rated ‘Excellent’ across all fields by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). Highly acclaimed in the South West for seamlessly combining academic discipline with an outstanding, supportive pastoral framework.

The vast, overwhelming majority of pupils (typically over 90–95%) automatically transfer up into Exeter Senior School at 11+ (Year 7) following standard internal academic tracking. Top-performing junior pupils regularly secure internal academic, music, and sports scholarships for their senior schooling.
