At Claremont Fan Court Junior School, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision is coordinated by a proactive Individual Needs (IN) department out of a centrally managed, multi-disciplinary Support Hub. Operating on a graduated response model that aligns with the 2015 SEND Code of Practice, the school targets mild-to-moderate learning differences—such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and processing or focus tracking difficulties—primarily through high-quality classroom differentiation and localized small-group interventions.
Nursery and Reception entry uses gentle, informal taster observations to ensure school readiness. Entry for Key Stage 1 and 2 (Years 1–6) requires a formal registration, an on-site taster day with age-appropriate assessments in English and Mathematics, and a formal school report/reference from the candidate’s current headteacher.
Registration deadlines for standard autumn entry (specifically Reception) generally close in mid-October of the preceding year (e.g., October 16 for entry the following September). In-year entry for other year groups is evaluated on a rolling basis if spaces become available.
Highly rated by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), achieving full compliance and top-tier praise for standard academic achievement, breadth of curriculum, and pupil personal development.
As an all-through school, the vast majority of Year 6 pupils automatically transition straight up into the highly competitive Claremont Fan Court Senior School. A minor percentage secure places at external local selective independent and grammar schools.
