Entry Requirements

Selective but holistic. Admission involves a formal taster and assessment day where pupils sit age-appropriate baseline cognitive evaluations in English and Mathematics. Decisions are heavily paired with a positive interview and a mandatory, satisfactory reference report from the child’s current headteacher.

Key Dates for Admissions

Main intake windows occur at 7+ (Year 3), 9+ (Year 5), and 11+ (Year 7). Entry assessment days take place annually in January for September entry, meaning early registration (by the preceding November) is highly recommended. Rolling intake may be accommodated mid-year if physical classroom seats are available.

Results

Regularly rated ‘Excellent’ by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). Highly acclaimed for its world-class musical profile, historic cathedral choir relationship, and nurturing, community-centric country-school ethos.

The dominant majority of pupils (typically over 90%) progress automatically up into King’s Ely Senior at 13+ (Year 9). Outstanding pupils regularly achieve highly competitive internal academic, choral, music, sports, and design scholarships.
